CACVB Dollar Per Room Program

In 2006, the South Carolina General Assembly approved a measure that would allow for Convention and Visitors Bureaus to participate in a new grant program. The program calls for destinations within South Carolina to raise a minimum of $500,000 of private sector funds that would then be matched by the state $.50 on the $1.00.
In order to generate additional funds in the private sector, the CACVB created the "Dollar Per Room" program, otherwise known as a destination fee. Other destinations in South Carolina, such as Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head Island, Columbia and Greenville, have also implemented similar programs in an effort to drive more tourism marketing dollars their way.

How it Works

Accommodation properties that participants in the program add $1.00 per room / per night to all guest folios, in addition to other taxes and fees, over-and-above the guestroom rate. A blank invoice is sent monthly to participating properties. Properties have a net of 30-days to remit payment.
